University of the Sunshine Coast orientation week was a success for "Head Space-Meditate Your Way to Study Success"!  New USC students stopped by our stand on Tuesday last week (20 July) for information about the book and our free meditation and mindfulness seminar which provided ways for students to maximise their studies, increase their intellect and de-stress at the same time! The free 2 hour seminar was held on Friday 23rd on the University campus at Sippy Downs.

Nicole Verwey-Baker's collage artwork as seen in the book was a major drawcard for the Head Space stand; people couldn't resist stopping to soak up the colours and textures of her work and questioning Nicole about her unique technique.  Due to popular demand, the Uni library and book shop will be adding the book to their shelves as requested by the student who talked with Nicole and I at Oweek activities.

It seems that the mature aged students are most interested in the free seminar held on Friday to give themselves an edge on their studies from the get go and the feedback from attending students was fantastic.  Alexis, USC Student said "I just wanted to thank you for having the workshop – I really enjoyed it! It was nice to have something like that at uni, everybody needs it, I’m sure. I am hoping that people will go to the workshop... it was wonderful and would benefit so many students. I will keep telling people about you!"

Many students asked us to organise ongoing meditation and mindfulness sessions each week throughout semester which we'll be discussing with Student Services in the near future.  More free "stress Less" seminars will be held later in the semester in the lead up to exams, so if you're not yet a subscriber to our mailing list, get signed up and receive up-to-date info about dates and times.  We're confident that word of mouth will spark more interest toward the end of the year.

Thanks again

Be well
